More watercolor pencil sketches!

Meow.

These three watercolor pencil sketches are probably amongst the most favourite things I’ve ever produced. It’s part of the ever slow growing set of Fantastical Date Ideas.

Tachikoma illustrated first last Thanksgiving. Totoro, sometime in between. Labbit this past month. All polished with Copic Opaque White when Labbit was drawn. I use a set of 14 or so Derwent Watercolor Pencils.

I drew this in ~15 minutes on my commute up today.
Apparently the instagrammers love hands! Hope the Tumble-folk do too.

Sketch-tagram. Lately I’ve been instagramming my sketches.
I’m @susanl if you’d like to follow along.

Pages from my MUJI sketchbook. Happy New Year, again folks.

New Watercolor Pencils

A quick sketch featuring my new Rose Lake Madder watercolor pencil.

[Watercolor Pencil Self Portrait] First complete moleskine page! - The last time I drew a self portrait was freshman year during 2D Drawing. Skills are still reasonably intact. I don’t like having to look at myself in the face for that long however. Time: 2 hours. Photoshopped for dramatic effect; scan to come.

My modern art education at work—from the fishbowl.
It started with.. 1. Drawing a fish with curled fins, 2. Asking another for 2nd subject matter (Answer: lesbians), and 3. Not having any ideas for a game project, and using this sketch to propose a game from which you are the fish, observing your world through the fishbowl, and one of the weird things you see includes.. lesbians. And that’s my modern art education at work.
Funny enough, people seem to like the idea, and have even suggested they’d appropriate it!
